With this update, we have also added support for the ‘orafce’ extension to emulate a subset of common functions and packages; and the ‘prefix’ extension to provide the prefix range functions capability.
To use the new version, you can create a new Amazon Aurora database instance with just a few clicks in the RDS Management Console, or upgrade an existing instance using a point-and-click upgrade. An upgrade operation involves a short period of unavailability for your database instance. If you have chosen to enable automatic minor version upgrades to the latest minor version for a given instance, it will get upgraded to this version automatically during the next maintenance window for that instance. Learn more about upgrading your database instances from the Amazon Aurora Documentation.
Amazon Aurora combines the performance and availability of high-end commercial databases with the simplicity and cost-effectiveness of open source databases. It provides up to three times better performance than the typical PostgreSQL database, together with increased scalability, durability, and security. See the AWS Region Table for complete regional availability.
